Skype for Business iOS Update – Version 6.12.0

I’m a fan of App updates, and am always happy to see a Skype for Business App update in my queue, ready and waiting to be installed on my iPhone.

So what’s new in version 6.12.0? Well, Microsoft have introduced:

  • Certificate-based authentication for users based in Office 365.
  • Ability to check your Skype for Business phone number right from the app
  • The ability to dial in to conference calls from meeting invites with one tap for Office 365 users

Your Phone Number

Microsoft have added the ability to check your phone number right in the app. The first time you open the app, your Skype for Business phone number is displayed, along with details about how to find it later on.

Tapping your icon in the top left now displays an additional selection named Profile:

And tapping Profile shows your phone number and SIP address:

A pretty handy addition for users who are often mobile and forget their direct line.

Certificate-based authentication

Although Certificate-based authentication has been supported in Android for a while, it’s a welcome addition to the iOS version of Skype for Business and brings the app in line with other Office 365 services.

If you’re keen on finding out how to configure certificate-based authentication within your organisation, check out the documentation over at https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/active-directory-certificate-based-authentication-ios
